Robot

Because nothing takes hold,
I build a tiny box, fence it over
with wires and bells until I have
a new kind of robot that won’t
do my chores but will buzz
a little bit, and chime.

About marilyncavicchia

I am a published poet, a professional editor, and a mother. Also a former stand-up comedian and (mostly fake) phone psychic. I live in Chicago but grew up in seven different cities and towns across the country. Now I'm looking to do some freelance editing and writing. Creative writers, I can help you polish your work before submitting. Companies and small business people, I can edit or write your annual reports, brochures, and other communications. Need something edited or written? Let's talk.

  1. That ain’t no robot == that’s art ;-)

  2. high tech, eh? smiles. makes me think though of childhood play and we always wanted to build a robot or a spaceship…and anything nearly resembling one was a wonderful thing…smiles.

  3. ..ooh.. quite intriguing to note… smiles…

  4. Fun, indeed. I like to do collage and find myself amassing stuff like that to add texture. It does get interesting, heh?

  5. Sounds like a wall clock. Fun fantasy, though.

    I always say god works in mysterious ways, but if you were god would you work at all? Robots that do no useful work might be the NEXT step!

  6. sounds like our class in school called “science technique lab where we had to build something electronic and then a box over it

  8. Phew, dead good! My pet robot says it sounds like the wind chime he made me. He made me? He didn’t – I made him, out of old pots and pans. Whatever you do, don’t plug it in (for too long).
